KAY ROBERTSON
April 28, 1966 - June 6, 2011
Kay Foy (Culbertson) Robertson passed away on June 6, 2011, as the result of  an equestrian accident. We choose to celebrate her life by remembering those she loved passionately and that which she accomplished gracefully.  Born on April  28, 1966, to Dooley and Ann (Frick) Culbertson in Huntsville, Alabama, Kay found  her true home in Arlington, Texas, after her family’s brief stops in California  and New Jersey. Kay graduated from Arlington Lamar High School in 1984, as a Kiwanis leader, and Texas A&M University in 1988.  Her college days as an Aggie  were treasured, with her leadership in the Bonfire organization, and a Tri Delta legacy.

Kay’s career in Finance took her to Georgia with Bank of America, and was complemented by her community service and leadership in the Junior League of Atlanta.  There she met and married the father of her beloved daughter, Ann Foy Parker.

Kay and Foy moved to Louisburg, North Carolina, in 1998, where they settled  and became a family with Phillip Gregory Robertson. She and Phillip built their careers as consultants and partners for The Mercer Group, as well as built their home, Hestia, with the intent of enjoying retirement there together. Continuing  Kay’s lifelong pursuit of equestrian interests, the family trained and cared for  horses at their home, and Kay and Foy both competed skillfully in dressage shows across the country.

It was while doing what she loved that Kay experienced a tragic accident in Chicago that sadly proved irrevocable. Her remains will be returned to Louisburg, and memorialized at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (301 North Church St.) on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 1:00 o’clock, with a reception to follow at the Person Place (605 North Main St.). At the request of her family, celebratory attire should be worn, and non-tax deductible donations to the Kay Robertson Memorial Fund (c/o Phillips, Dorsey, Thomas, Waters, and Brafford,, P.A., Certified Public Accountants, P.O. Drawer 1359, Henderson, NC 27536) may be made in lieu of flowers. The Fund has been created to help meet the charitable needs of projects to which Kay was devoted.

Kay is survived by her husband Phillip; daughter Foy; brother Keith, his wife  Elisabeth and their children Jack, Kate, Kyle and Brady; her father, Dooley, his wife, Faye; her in-laws, step-family, extended relatives, and many, many friends the world over.

It is with sadness in brevity, but joy in the completion of your journey, Kay,  that we remember Hestia’s hearthstone: “Again, again ... the old is newly come.”
