WILLIAM B. (BOB) SWANSON MAJ, INF, USAR
William B. (Bob) Swanson, 73 of Louisburg, NC and Wilmington, NC crossed over the river on 3/23/2011.

He was born in Franklin County, NC on October 20, 1937 to the late Idalene Champion Swanson Champion and the late Lynwood Swanson. He was also predeceased by his brother Joe C. Swanson. He is survived by his beloved daughter and son, Mary Champion Swanson and William Thomas Swanson.

Bob served his country with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.), Internal Revenue Service (I.R.S.) and the U.S. Army. Bob was an Infantry officer and he dearly loved his country and his Comrades-In-Arms. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. Later in life he was a Real Estate Broker in Wilmington.

Bob was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Social Fraternity, Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church, The Cape Fear Shag Club and American Legion Post 10, Wilmington, NC. He loved music, dancing and flowers. He graduated from Atlantic Coast Christian College, now Barton College, and attended Law School at The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. As he said, so often, he was Carolina Blue.

He was honored to have had a stepfather, Sid C. Champion. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Judy Faye Lewis, daughter-in-law, Beth Alexander Swanson, and a very special grandson, Nicholas Alexander Swanson.

Bob was totally devoted to his God, Country and Family. However, he loved life and living.

Mary and William gave Bob the most joy, happiness and pleasure that any parent could ever hope for.

Bob crosses over the river with the knowledge that he will rejoin his loved ones on the other side.

Condolences may be sent by taking a child out fishing.

Graveside service and internment will be 3:00pm Friday, August 12, 2011, at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

 We miss you dad....
