ROBERT (RUSS) B. MAY
January 9, 1959 - October 23, 2011
LOUISBURG - Robert Burt May died Oct. 23, 2011 at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill.

Robert was the beloved son of the late Robert (Burt) and Edna Collins May, brother of Reenie May Parris of Maryland, uncle of Ed G. Parris and Monika Townsend of Virginia, and great-uncle of Dylan Parris, and also will be long remembered by many, many cousins and friends and his dog Lacie.

A life-long resident of the White Level community in Franklin County, Robert graduated from Edward Best High School in 1977, attended N.C. State University, served in the United States Navy from 1979 to 1983 as an Electronics Technician, and worked for Nortel Networks in the Research Triangle Park as a Technical Support Engineer from 1983 to 2008.

Robert/Russ enjoyed playing with his dog Lacie, four-wheeling, being with his friends at “the store,” sports (especially the UNC Tarheels), reading, movies, computer games, music, playing “blues” guitar, and cooking.

Friends are invited to join and participate with family in a Celebration of Robert/Russ’s Life 3 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg.  Please bring any photos and stories that you’d like to share. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Franklin County Animal Shelter, 113 Market St., Louisburg, NC 27549.

Arrangements are by Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg, www.stricklandfuneralhome.net
