MARGARET W. EDWARDS

LOUISBURG – Mrs. Margaret Watkins Edwards, 87, died January 16.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Maylon E. Watkins and Mary Etta Tharrington Watkins, and stepmother, Helen Parrish Watkins, husband, R.C. Edwards, Jr., as well as brothers, M.E. and Charles Watkins, and sisters, Mary Helen Watkins and Mildred Cook.

Mrs. Edwards was retired from Franklin County Schools where she touched the lives of many young children. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir and served as organist for over 50 years.  Her happiest times were spent in the company of her family and in her church.

She is survived by sons, Larry Edwards and wife Jean, of Louisburg, Lenwood Edwards and wife Donna, of Wake Forest, Allen “Buck” Edwards and wife Nellie Grey, of Henderson, Maylon Edwards and wife Robin, of Louisburg, and Ronnie Edwards and wife Lynette, of Fuquay-Varina; brothers, Bill Watkins of Garner and Bob Watkins of Louisburg; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Corinth Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church, 4592 US 401 Hwy. N., Louisburg, NC 27549.

The family will receive friends 7:00 – 8:30 pm Wednesday at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg.
