LOUISBURG – Clifford Taylor “C.T.” Dean, Jr., 89, of Louisburg, passed away Sunday morning.

C.T. was born and raised in the Cedar Rock Community near Edward Best School, the son of the late Clifford Taylor Dean Sr. and Mrs. Myrtle Parrish Dean. C.T. was preceded in death by his brothers, Grattis Dean and Baxter Dean. Being raised on a farm, their home also boarded school teachers for many years. One of his favorite teachers that lived with the Dean family was the late Dr. C. Ray Pruette.

C.T. graduated from Edward Best High School, Louisburg College and North Carolina State University, where he attended the first and the last official basketball games played in Reynolds Coliseum, spanning over 50 years. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. C.T. retired in 1985 after 38 years of service as the N.C. Agricultural Extension Director of Franklin County. He was an active member of Louisburg Baptist Church and the Louisburg Lions Club. He enjoyed traveling and working in his yard and maintaining his roses.

Funeral service was 11 a.m. Tuesday at Louisburg Baptist Church with Dr. Reggie Rushing officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.

C.T. is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marion T. Dean; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and R.C. Hunt of Wilson; sisters-in-law, Thea Dean of VA; Melba Dean of FL;  and several nieces and nephews; and his Miniature Dachshunds, Bimmer and Beacon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Louisburg Baptist Church, P.O. Box 730, Louisburg, NC 27549.
