RUBY MAE DEAN DICKENS
RALEIGH - Ruby Mae Dean Dickens, 93, of Raleigh, formerly of Castalia, NC, passed away on Monday evening, April 9, at the Tower Nursing and Rehab facility in Raleigh.  Ruby lived in Castalia for 67 years on Red Bud Road. She met the love of her life at the age of 16 and married George Washington “Boy” Dickens and they were together until his death in May of 1978.   She continued to stay on the Dickens home place until 1996, when she moved to Raleigh. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Castalia Baptist Church in Castalia, NC with the Rev. Chris Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in the Dickens Family Cemetery on the Dickens Farm.

Ruby and Boy did not have any children but they were blessed with many nieces and nephews on both sides of their families.  Ruby was preceded in death by all twelve of her siblings from Wendell in Wake County, Bailey Lonnie Dean (Thelma), Charlie Lewis Dean (Emily), Amos Van Dean (Elizabeth), Francis Rebecca Dean (infant), Graham Walter (Jack) Dean (Hazel), William Moses (Bubber) Dean (Annie), Mabel  Dean Parrish  (William), Clifton (Big Boy) Dean (Hazel), Marie Scarboro Dean Brown (Wilbur), Mary William Dean Brown (Robert), Margaret Griffin Dean Tilton (Eddie).

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Castalia Baptist Church. 

Flowers are acceptable and/or contributions can be made to Castalia Baptist Church, PO Box 35, Castalia, NC  27816. Arrangements are being handled by Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Boulevard, Louisburg.  Online condolences may be made to www.lancasterfcs.com.
