BERYL S. WOOD
April 26, 1918 – June 12, 2012
LOUISBURG – Beryl S. Wood, 94, of Louisburg went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Louisburg Nursing Center. 

She was born in Franklin County, daughter of the late John and Lillie Stallings.  She attended East Carolina and Western Carolina where she received her teaching degree.  She taught elementary school in Franklin County for 37 years and retired in 1975.  She taught at schools in Pilot, Bunn, Edward Best Elementary, Edward Best High School and Epsom.  Mrs. Wood was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and a long-time member of Louisburg Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Alex Wood; sister, LaRosa Liner; and brothers, Cameron Stallings and John Stallings.

 She will be lovingly remembered by a sister-in-law, Betsy Stallings of Pilot; nieces and nephews, Gayle S. Jenkins (Denny) of Raleigh, Emily Angel of Madison, Katherine Brigman (Craig) of Raleigh, Garland Wood (Janet) and Harold Vincent Wood (Bonnie) of Louisburg; 7 great-nieces and nephews; several loving and faithful cousins of Pilot; and a special friend, Carolyn Harrison.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Thursday at Louisburg Baptist Church.  Entombment will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. 

Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:30 Wednesday at Strickland Funeral Home, 103 W. Franklin Street, Louisburg. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Louisburg Baptist Church, P.O. Box 730, Louisburg, NC  27549 or Pilot Baptist Church, 8103 Hwy 39 S., Zebulon, NC  27597.
