RAY EDWARD HARRIS, SR.
FRANKLINTON - Ray Edward Harris, Sr., age 82, died Monday, June 11, 2012 in Louisburg Nursing Center. He was a native of Emporia, Va., and was the son of the late Roger C. and Mary Clay Harris. Mr. Harris worked in road construction, he was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, a member of the American Legion Post 52 in Franklinton, member of the Franklinton Lions Club, former Lion of the Year and past president of the club. While living in Virginia, he worked with the Boy Scouts and coached baseball in the Chesapeake area. Ray was also a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Hall-Wynne Funeral Chapel in Franklinton by the Rev. Carl Hunter. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Franklinton with Military Honors.

Surviving  are his wife, Evelyn Kearney Harris; daughter, Terry Harris Beachem (John) of Goldsboro, NC; son, Ray Edward Harris, Jr. (Stephanie) of Drewryville, Va.; sister, Mary Cooley Murray of Wilson, NC; grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler and Megan Beachem, Kaylee and Carawan Harris. The family would like to thank his caregivers, Charlie, Gloria and Twanda.

The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home in Franklinton. At other times they will be at the home.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Building Fund, 1245 Mt. Olivet Church Rd., Franklinton, NC 27525.
