JOHN A. SPIVEY

HARRISBURG, PA - John Alan Spivey, of Harrisburg, PA, transitioned into eternal life on October 22, 2012. He was born November 22, 1946 in Louisburg, NC, son of Elizabeth Malone Spivey and the late Jimmie Spivey. He graduated from Riverside High School, Louisburg, and served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War. An entrepreneur/Spivey’s Enterprise, he retired from G4S Secure Solutions. 

As a member of The First Baptist Church of Steelton, Harrisburg, he served with the Trustees, Charles Donahue Male Chorus and Senior Ushers Ministries.  He was affiliated with American Legion, Post #0945.

Mr. Spivey was predeceased by a brother, Jimmie Spivey. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his devoted wife, Joyce Spivey of Harrisburg; children, Troy and John Spivey of Baltimore, Brian Cobb (Tracy), Tierna Henry (Mark), all of Harrisburg; siblings, Carrie Spivey of Wake Forest, NC, James Spivey of Chapel Hill, NC, Queen Wilkins (James), Barbara Ann Spivey, all of Louisburg, NC, Sheila Frasier (Barry) of Harrisburg; 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Spivey’s life was celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, October 29th, at his church, 1850 S. 19th Street, Harrisburg, with viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. and interment at Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill, PA. Professional services entrusted to Wallace Funeral Directors.
