DONNIE QUALLS DENTON
ROCKY MOUNT - Donnie Qualls Denton went home and reunited with the love of her life on Thursday, December 27th, 2012. She was born to John Kelly and Dolly Mae Qualls on August 9th, 1934 in Nash County.

Donnie Ray worked on the family farm during her childhood years and enjoyed playing basketball for Edward Best High School. In 1951, she married her true love, Tom Arch Denton, who preceded her in death almost one year to the day. They moved to Rocky Mount where she was a homemaker, devout Christian, and loving mother of three. She enjoyed a wonderful 25 year career as dietitian for First Baptist Church daycare, where she served many memorable meals to children who still fondly remember her. She and the family were members of Clark Street United Methodist Church, which later merged with Marvin United Methodist Church. Her life was devoted to her family, her church family, and most importantly, her Lord.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her wonderful husband of 60 years; sisters, Lila Mae Wheeler and Peggy Austin Rees.

She will be forever adored by her children, Tommy (Sue); daughters Joie Byrne (Charles), and Valerie Bunn; the joys of her life, her 11 grandchildren, Daniel and Jordan Denton and Carol Welsh, Edward, Raymond, Gerald and Joseph Byrne, Emily Byrne Kousis (Chris), Emerald, Olsen, and Neill Bunn; two beautiful great-grandsons, Christopher and Alex Kousis; sister, Mary Alice Crump (Bill) of Deltaville, Virginia; and brother, Bobby Qualls (Joanne) of Raleigh; and many special nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, January 2nd, at Johnson Funeral and Cremations, officiated by her faithful friend in Christ, Reverend Jim Hayes. Visitation will begin at 11:00, followed by a service at 12:00 noon. The family would like to extend an invitation to all friends to attend the burial service at Oakdale Cemetery in Spring Hope following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials sent to Marvin United Methodist Church, 911 Falls Road, Rocky Mount, North Carolina 27804.

Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount NC . Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.johnsonfuneralsandcremations.com.
