LAURA ELIZABETH TREAT MATTINGLY
December 9, 1921-December 3, 2013
Our dear Mother and best friend, Laura Elizabeth Treat Mattingly, passed away on Tuesday, December 3rd, 6 days shy of her 92nd birthday.  We cherish her memory and are grateful for the many years we spent with her.  We hope she is now with our deceased father, Rex, who passed away on Feburary 27, 2004.  Laura Mattingly is survived by her children:  Sharon Billings (husband Ken), Franklinton, NC, Sally Abril, Louisburg, NC, and Lloyd Mattingly (wife, Melanie), Wake Forest, NC.  She also leaves six grandchildren (Ken Billings, Jr., Johns Creek, GA, Christy Billings, San Diego, CA, Mario Abril, Los Angeles, CA, Andres Abril, Brandywine, MD, Wyatt Mattingly and Garrett Mattingly, both of Wake Forest, NC.  She had eight great-grandchildren.

Laura was born and raised in Roswell, NM.  Her parents and brothers were ranchers in NM.  She and our family had many happy times on those ranches.  Laura was a devoted wife and mother and she and her husband Rex had a wonderful life together.  They lived in Albuquerque for many years, working and raising their children.  Later Rex was appointed to a governmental position in Washington, DC for eight years.  They lived in Anacortes, WA before finally settling in North Carolina.  Laura lived next door to her children in Franklin County for many years before her move to an assisted living facility in Wake Forest.  Her family will miss her greatly.  There will be a private family service.  Because of her special fondness of animals, the family has requested any donations be sent to:  Heaven and Earth Animal Rescue Team (HEART).  HEARTPetRescue.org, PO BOX 1012, Youngsville, NC  27596
