Local woman badly beaten; police arrest ‘sometimes’ boyfriend
Timothy Todd Medlin
LOUISBURG — A Franklin County woman is recovering from a beating that investigators said put her on a ventilation machine.

Her alleged attacker, Timothy Todd Medlin, was charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury.

According to investigators, a passerby was walking along the 900 block of Ronald Tharrington Road the morning of April 6 when they came upon a car they thought might have been in a wreck.

When fire and rescue units arrived, they found a 52-year-old woman sitting in the passenger seat, unconscious, from an apparent assault.

She was transported to WakeMed, said Franklin County Sheriff’s Capt. E.H. Smith, where she was placed on a ventilator.

“It was touch and go,” Smith said. “She was in serious condition [on Monday].

“They’ve taken her off the ventilator and she is awake and doing better.”

Investigators went to the woman’s home on N.C. 561 and found evidence that the assault occurred inside the house.

A few hours after the woman was found in the car, authorities arrested Medlin, 41, at his Ronald Tharrington Road home — about 500 yards from where the woman was found in the car.

Investigators said Medlin had an on-again, off-again relationship with the woman.

It was not clear what prompted the assault or the nature of the attack.

“She hasn’t been able to tell me yet,” Smith said Tuesday.

Medlin was placed in jail in lieu of a $250,000 bond. He is slated to appear in court on April 15.

I understand that this guy was a pile of human waste waiting to happen and maybe it has happened.

This was a vile act. He has changed lives forever. The senseless violence of it disgust me. If I were king the 1st measure of justice would be for him to receive 2 fold what he has done. When this reaches the courts let us stand and let it be known, no plea deal.
