MICHAEL L. “MITCHELL” WHEELER
LOUISBURG - Michael Loring “Mitchell” Wheeler, 69, of Louisburg, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at his home. Born December 20, 1944 to the late Benjamin Wilson and Idalene Murphy Wheeler.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his grandson, Larry Rankin Varner, Jr., and his sister, Barbara Jean. A wonderful father, husband, brother and grandfather who loved his family dearly and he loved to go fishing at Mattamuskeet. 

The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Maple Springs Baptist Church where a memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jason Havens and the Rev. David Grindstaff officiating.

He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Wheeler; three sons, Michael Roy Varner of Raleigh, Larry Rankin Varner and his wife, Bonnie of Louisburg, Michael Lee Wheeler and his wife, Joann of Chesapeake, VA; his daughter, Kimberly Varner Kidd of Louisburg; his brothers, Tim Wheeler of Black Mountain, Wayne and Kenneth Wheeler, both of Louisburg; his grandchildren, Heather, Crystal, Laura, Ashley, Justin, Jennifer, Shannon, Michael Donavan; and twelve great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Community Home-care and Hospice for their services. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Michael L. Wheeler to the American Cancer Society, c/o Tonya Clayton, 2857 White Level Road, Castalia, NC  27816.
