WILLIE FRANK BARTHOLOMEW
September 29, 1935 – May 18, 2014

LOUISBURG – Willie Frank Bartholomew, 78, of Louisburg, died Sunday morning at his home.

Willie Frank was the son of the late Willie H. and Suell Joyner Bartholomew. He retired from the Army National Guard after 32 years of service at the rank of 1st Sgt. and was honored with the Army Achievement Medal for his outstanding leadership. He went to work in 1963 with the NC Forestry Service and retired as District Ranger after 34 years of service.

He was a lifelong member of Saints Delight Baptist Church, and a charter member of the White Level and Justice Volunteer Fire Departments as well as the White Level Rescue. He was also a charter member and Past President of the White Level Lions Club. He served as a sworn officer for the town of Bunn and Franklin County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of the Louisburg Masonic Lodge 413 and served as a past master mason.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Saints Delight Baptist Church at 565 Fire Tower Road, Louisburg. Entombment will follow at Duke Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Emily Perry Bartholomew; daughters, Frankie Lou Bartholomew and Mary Helen Phelps (Johnny); son, William Taylor Bartholomew ( Alison), all of Louisburg; grandchildren, Kenneth Faulkner, Hallum Dickens IV, Khlud and Hadeer Youssef, Angel Collie, Noah, Zachery and Peter Bartholomew.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Masonic Home For Children At Oxford, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565-2728. In memory of past master, Willie Frank Bartholomew of the Masonic Lodge James A. Johnson Lodge 413.

The family will receive friends 7 – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg, www.stricklandfuneralhome.net. And other times at the family residence at 1802 White Level Road.
