THEODORE C. "TED" SMILEY

WARRENTON--Theodore Cooper "Ted" Smiley, 69, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014 at the Hock Family Pavilion in Durham. The Rev. Rob Evans will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Macon Baptist Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Warrenton.

He was a Warren County native, born to the late Bernard and Lillian Gibson Smiley, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Smiley.

He was a member and deacon at the Macon Baptist Church and was a retired superintendent with the NC Department of Corrections.

He was also a member of the Warrenton Rural Fire Department, the NC National Guard for 28 years, and Town Administrator for the Town of Warrenton. Most recently, he worked at Fred's Food Club.

Surviving: wife, Donna Wilson Smiley; daughters, Tonya S. Sconyers of Whitakers and Natalie Smiley of Walnut Cove; his sister, Jane Griffin of Centerville; brother, B.P. Smiley of Richmond, Va.;  one granddaughter; three nieces; and two nephews.

Flowers are acceptable; the family asks that any memorials be made to Duke Homecare & Hospice, 4023 North Roxboro Road, Durham, NC 27704.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Blaylock Funeral Home in Warrenton. Online condolences may be made at www.blaylockfh.com.
