HOWARD H. LEONARD

ROCKY MOUNT--Howard Hardy Leonard, 80, died in an automobile accident on Saturday, March 21, 2015. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 25, at 11 a.m. at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount. Burial will be held following the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount.

He was born in Franklin County to the late Willie Howard Leonard and Wilma Gupton Leonard. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert Perry Leonard (Doris).

He attended Benvenue High School and later served in the United States Army. He worked for the Imperial Tobacco Company for 20 years. He later earned his NC Electrical License and worked as an electrical contractor until he retired.

Surviving: his wife, Rosa Moore Leonard; sister, Linda Leonard Slater (Sonny) of Rocky Mount; daughters, Joyce Leonard Swartz of Rocky Mount and Mary Ellen Leonard of Nashville; sons, Howard H. Leonard, II (Jan) of Rocky Mount, Robert C. Leonard (Cynthia) of Nashville, Charles Curtis Davis Jr. (Tammy) of Statesville, and G. Matheson Davis of New Bern; five grandsons and four granddaughters; a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
