Student selected for international leadership event

VIRGINIA BEACH -- Reagan C. Bracknell, a rising junior at Princess Anne High School's International Baccalaureate Program in Virginia Beach, was recently selected to attend the Sorensen Institute's High School Leaders Program at the University of Virginia.

The High School Leaders Program (HSLP) offers concentrated study in Virginia politics and government for high school students.

Bracknell is the granddaughter of James and Patricia Bracknell of Franklinton,, and the son of Robert Gray Bracknell, a graduate of Franklinton High School and UNC-Chapel Hill.

The HSLP is based on a belief that young people not only can make a positive difference in their communities, they should be encouraged to do so.

The High School Leaders Program gives students the skills and political knowledge to become advocates in their communities and schools.

Participants engage in debate about the public policy challenges facing the Commonwealth and interact with Virginia's leaders.
