PAUL ELWOOD NOWELL

LOUISBURG - Paul Elwood Nowell, 93, of Louisburg, formerly of Henderson, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015. He was born on January 15, 1922 to the late Joseph Kelly Nowell and Rowena Reeves Nowell. Mr. Nowell served in the United States Navy from 1943-46 as a Sea Plane Pilot and was retired from Harriet & Henderson Cotton Mill as a Personnel Manager/Benefit Planner after 40 plus years. He was a long time member of City Road United Methodist Church, having served in many capacities.

Graveside funeral services were held at 11 o'clock Monday morning, August 31, 2015, at Sunset Gardens, 3174 US 158 BUS, Henderson, NC 27537.

Mr. Nowell is survived by his daughters, Ruth Nowell Oliver (Dan) of Jacksonville and Linda Nowell Wilson (Woody) of Louisburg; grandchildren, Jason Oliver (Lidia), Brad Wilson (Amanda), Neil Oliver (Claire), Katy Oliver (Sarah Manning), Paul Wilson (Jamie) and Erin Howe; twelve great-grandchildren; longtime friend, Betty Ayscue, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Hughes Nowell; sister, Gladys Nowell Shook; brothers, Garland Nowell and J.B. Nowell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to City Road UMC, P.O. Box 116, Henderson, NC 27536.

Friends visited with the family from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg, NC and also immediately following the graveside service.
