GERTIE LOU GUPTON

LOUISBURG - Gertie Lou Gupton, 98, of Louisburg died Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Born on December 19, 1917 to the late William Emmitt and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Debnam Brewer. She and her late husband, Ezra A. Gupton, owned and operated a country store in the Wood community for many years. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Darrell, Maynard and Atlas Brewer; her stepdaughters, Viola Gupton Champion, Blanche Gupton and Elsie Gupton Uzzle.

The family will receive friends Friday at 1:00 pm at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel where funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Walter Overman officiating. Burial will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park.

She is survived by her nieces, Angie Perry (Andy) and Cathy Brewer, all of Raleigh; her nephews, Perry Brewer of Fuquay-Varina and Dwight Brewer (Julie) of Zebulon; her great-nieces and nephews, Logan, Austin and Mason Perry, Morgan, Matthew and Carson Brewer and Kristin Fantini; special family members, Diane Brewer of Zebulon and Connie Brewer of Fuquay-Varina; her stepson, Archie Lee Gupton of Butner; step-grandchildren, Reginald Champion and Stuart Champion, both of Wake Forest, Cindy Jobe of Youngsville, Eddie Uzzle and Tanya Kennedy, both of Florida.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Wood Baptist Church, 649 Wood Church Road, Louisburg, NC 27549 or to White Level Baptist Church, 2400 White Level Road, Louisburg, NC 27549.
