JOHN V. KEARNEY

FRANKLINTON --John V. Kearney, 82, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Louisburg Nursing Center. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 12, at First Baptist Church in Franklinton, with the Rev. Samuel T. Tunstall officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.

Born in Franklinton, he was the son of the late Vincent Kearney and Ruth P. Kearney. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Franklinton, and for many years was employed as a logging truck driver.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Kearney; two sisters, Grace Butt and Katie Francios; and two grandchildren.

Surviving: nine children, Larry Kearney (Tracey), Ricky Kearney (Ethel), all of Louisburg; Nancy Perry and Connell Kearney of Wake Forest, Jackie Kearney (Kowanna), Linda Kearney, and Cynthia Williams of Franklinton, Wanda Darden (George) of Norlina and Donnell Kearney of Jacksonville, N.C.; eight sisters, Carrie Brodie, Marilyn Jones and Vicky Yarbrough, all of Franklinton, Alice Godfrey of Wake Forest, Anna Kingsberry and Ruby Mccloud of New York, Frances Webb of Buffalo, N. Y., and Dorothy Williams of Sickeville, N. J.; brothers, Donald Kearney of New York and Vincent Kearney of Henderson; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
