DAVID RAY GUIN

RALEIGH - Our beloved, David Ray Guin passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016. He was born August 25, 1958 to Kenneth Ray Guin and Jean Dancer Guin in Ruislip, England.

David was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Class of 1981. He served in the US Navy for five years as a submarine warfare officer and finished his active duty service in Charleston, SC in 1986. He continued to serve in the Naval Reserves for eighteen years. He attended the Norman A. Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC and was the first Summa Cum Laude graduate in the school's history. He began his professional legal career at the Raleigh law firm, Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge, and Rice and practiced there for three years before joining the law practice of a fellow Naval officer, Darnell A. Batton in Louisburg, NC.

David's chosen profession was as an attorney; but his chosen vocation was to God and to his family. He gave of himself tirelessly to the many causes that were dear to his heart, especially the Right to Life and St. Thomas More Academy.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia, and his nine children; Jeffrey Xavier, Arthur Kenneth, Theresa Marie, David Andrew, Gregory Bryan, Alexander Michael and his wife Suzanne, Philip David and his wife Jessica, Lindsay Marie and her husband Brian, Alissa Marie and her husband Daniel, and his fifteen grandchildren, his parents Ray and Jean Guin, his sisters, Glenda and Pat, as well as a myriad of loving sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A public, closed casket visitation will take place on Friday, February 5th at 11 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2718 Overbrook Dr, Raleigh NC 27608. The visitation will be followed by the funeral mass at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Birthchoice at http://www.supportbirthchoice.org/donate/.
