ANN DENTON MAY
October 12, 1948 - April 12, 2016

ROLESVILLE - Phyllis Ann Denton May, 67, of Rolesville, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016. She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Gladys Horton Denton and Joseph Proctor Denton.

Ann worked 39 years for the State of North Carolina and was awarded at her retirement "The Order of the Long Leaf Pine". She loved gardening and working in her flowers and feeding the deer, squirrels and birds that would show up daily in her back yard. She loved restoring her Victorian home and collecting antique furniture. She also loved collecting Native American Jewelry, especially that designed by Navajo Silversmith, Thomas Singer. She loved traveling with Bill to all the US States and anywhere Rod Stewart was performing, seeing him in concert 72 times. Her favorite places were Santa Fe, San Francisco and Monument Valley. Ann had the sweetest, soft spoken soul and always put others' needs before her own, even until the end.

There will be no service at this time. Burial will be at a later date.

Ann is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, William "Bill" May; her sister, Sue Southerland (Tasker); brother-in-law, Otha May Jr. (Betty Rose); her nieces, Pam Southerland Eagles (Frank), Lynn Southerland Carey, Kim Southerland Phelps (Phillip), Lisa May Griffin (Chuck) and Jennifer May Moore (Dave). She had numerous great-nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their thanks to Rex Cancer Center, Universal Health Care and Transitions Life Care Hospice of Wake County for Ann's care.

No Flowers will be accepted, but memorial contributions can be made to Transitions Life Care Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or the Franklin County Animal Shelter, checks payable to: FCAS, 351 T. Kemp Road, Louisburg, NC 27549. Please note on check: In memory of Ann May for shelter animals.
