DAVID "WIG" M. DENTON, JR.
February 6, 1932 - September 6, 2016

WILLOW SPRING - David "Wig" M. Denton, Jr., 84, passed away on Tuesday at Rex Hospital. A native of Franklin County, he was the son of the late David M. Denton, Sr. and Martha Medlin Denton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Kennebec Baptist Church, Angier. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

David is survived by his wife, Vera Lee McLeod Denton; daughters, Delores Stephenson, Kathy Cheaves and husband, Bruce; grandchildren, Bridgett L. Sandy, Kim C. Gupton and husband, Josh, Amanda C. Bartholomew and husband, Blake; great-grandchildren, Alexis J. Nichols and husband, Matt, Trey Sandy, Logan Bartholomew, Raylan Gupton, Wyatt Bartholomew; brothers, Herbert Denton, Pete Denton and wife, Virginia; sisters, Shirley Potter, Doris Collins and husband, Rudy, Judy Ball and husband, Len, Peggy Oakley and husband, Andy; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Denton, and an infant great-great-granddaughter, Jordan Lee Nichols.

The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier and at other times at the home.

The family would like to thank Dr. McNulty, Dr. Christina and the ladies at Rex Hematology and Oncology Health Park in Garner and the doctors and staff at Rex Hospital Emergency Department for all their great support and care they have shown to David.

Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the Kennebec Baptist Church Building Fund, 9808 Kennebec Church Rd., Angier, NC 27501 in David's memory.
