ALVIN A. STRICKLAND

FRANKLINTON - Alvin Allen Strickland, 86 of Franklinton passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Wake Medical Center. Born on April 23, 1930 to the late Ernest Edward and Leslie Harp Strickland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Helen May Strickland and Kay Moore Strickland; his sons, David Herman Strickland, Eric Kent Nelms, Harlan Stuart Nelms; and his daughter, Sharon Elaine Nelms.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at Franklinton Baptist Church where funeral services will follow at 4:30, with the Reverend David Averette officiating. Interment will follow in Union Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery in Kittrell.

He is survived by his children, Edward Allen Strickland (Gene), Evelyn Nelms Goswick and Gary Edward Nelms (DeLon); his daughter-in-law, Anna Vail Strickland; his grandchildren, Susan Williams, Allen Strickland (Courtney) and Catie Strickland, Jon Goswick (Jennifer), Aaron Goswick (Kristina), Laura Furrow (Brad) and Daniel Goswick (Ashley); and twenty-one beloved great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Franklinton Baptist Church Building Fund, 102 W. Mason Street, Franklinton, NC 27525.
