CLINTON R. CARLYLE

PILOT - Clinton Reid Carlyle, 80, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016. He was born March 27, 1936 in Franklin County to the late Rufus Maryland Carlyle and Crettie Riley Carlyle. He honorably served his country in the National Guard from 1954 to 1962. Clinton owned and operated Carlyle Grocery and Carlyle Insurance Agency. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner. Clinton was past president and co-founder of the Pilot Lion's Club and was active in the Democratic Political Party.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 21, 2016, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, 27545. Burial will follow at the Carlyle Family Cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home, 670 Carlyle Road, Zebulon, 27597.

Surviving: daughters: Dwanna Joy Carlyle Bullock (Timothy), Clinthia Marilyn Carlyle Cowan, Stephanie Reid Carlyle, all of Pilot; grandchildren: Clinton Edward Cowan, Cody Ray Cowan, Dean Thomas Bullock, Seth Orren Bullock, Ryan Alexander Goods, Rylie Hope Gray; great-grandchildren: Jason Garrett Wilkins, Alexis Marie Mullen, Aubrey Jean Mullen, Autumn Marie Welch, Madison Nicole Cowan; sisters: Faye C. Belvin of Raleigh, Eunice C. Wagoner of Zebulon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alexena Neville Carlyle; granddaughter, Elizabeth Carlyle Kearney; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
