FRANKLINTON--Sarah Alice Pearce Stevens, 88, of Raleigh, formerly of Franklinton, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery, 1245 Mt. Olivet Church Road, Franklinton, with the Rev. Carl Hunter officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.
She was born to the late Richard and Lizzie Perguson Pearce.
She retired from Dorthea Dix Hospital, having worked 22 years as a nurse's aide. Her joy in life was having family at her home, where she would cook, and she always had a pitcher of very sweet tea.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Clyde Battle Stevens Sr.; brothers, Buddy, Melvin, Dickie, and Lawrence Pearce; and sisters, Ester Weltman, Ella Mae Blackley, Betty Enlow, and Mildred Blackley.
Surviving: sons, Clyde Stevens Jr. (Sheila) of Raleigh, Bobby Stevens (Alice) of Wendell and Timmy Stevens (Jean) of Raleigh; sister, Andelia Watkins of Rolesville; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
