LOUISBURG--Helen Joyner Hicks, 95, departed this earthly life, on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Louisburg Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born on January 25, 1922 to the late Zollie Thomas and Annie Lamb Joyner.

She was raised at the Cascine along with her eight brothers and sisters. She enjoyed sewing, cooking; especially baking cakes. For over twenty years, she was the cafeteria manager at Louisburg High School and was a member of Leah's Chapel United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, L.P. Hicks; two children at birth; her son, Donald "Donnie" Hicks; brothers, Kenneth, Clifton and Z.T. Joyner; and her sisters, Christine Chaffee and Ruby Chappell.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 - 1:45 pm at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Boulevard, Louisburg, where funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverend Paul Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughters, Vicky Hicks Privette (Rickey), Carol Hicks Edwards (Tim); her daughter-in-law, Anna Hicks; grandchildren, Amy Eaves (Tony), Donette Hicks (Jo) and Rachel Edwards; great-grandchildren, Summer Jessup, Carleigh and Tyler Eaves; great-great-grandchild, Gage; brothers, Bobby Joyner (Debbie), Herbert Joyner, (Barbara); and her sister, Ruth White (Lindow).
