KATIE MAE RICHARDSON

LOUISBURG--Mrs. Katie Mae Richardson, 96, daughter of the late Bunn and Maybelle R. Richardson, was born in Nash County, North Carolina on October 29, 1921 and departed this life on December 12, 2017 at Franklin Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Louisburg, NC. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hollister, with the Rev. Thomas Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her health delined. She was an avid member of the Senior Missionaries and Sunday School.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Dick "Bud" Richardson on October 17, 1945, and to this union five children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick "Bud" Richardson of 54 years; five siblings: Steve, Addie, Jimmy Lee, Beulah, and Winfield; and one grandson, Ernest Richardson, Jr. She was a hardworking wife, and devoted mother. During her lifetime, she was a housewife and farm worker. Her favorite hobbies were quilting, cooking (she was known for her biscuits and chicken and dunplings), gardening, and taking care of the family

She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Mary L. Richardson of Rocky Mount, NC and Anna Alexander (Warren) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; three sons, Bonnie and Mark Rochardson, both of the home, and Ernest Richardson (Denise) of Castalia, NC; two sisters-in-law, Nettie Richardson of Louisburg, NC and Irene Boone of Roanoke Rapids, NC; one brother-in-law, Jake Richardson of Nashville, NC; five grandchildren, Sandy, Anthony, Rufus, Kim and Kristal; six great-grandchildren; one special niece, Bettie Richardson of Louisburg, NC; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Open visitation will be Saturday afternoon from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home in Louisburg.

Arrangements by Richardson Funeral Home, Louisburg, NC.
