WILLIAM L. "BOOTY" BUNN

On Saturday May 12, 2018, William (Bill) Bunn went home to dwell eternally with his Savior Jesus Christ. He was born in Franklin County to the late George Oliver Bunn and Eunice Sykes Bunn. His life had a profound impact on the lives of all those he touched. He loved his family and friends, but most of all, he loved his Lord whom he faithfully served.

From a humble upbringing on the family farm, Booty (as he was known to his family and intimate friends) served his country with honor and went on to serve his clients at the Bradsher and Bunn insurance agency with integrity.

He sacrificially gave of himself and his heart to Shelby, his wife of 60 years. He adored his children and grandchildren, and admittedly found his greatest joy in spending time with them. Known for his hugs and his smile, he shared his warmth freely with them all. He also loved his brothers and sisters as well as his brothers and sisters in Christ at Friendship Baptist Church in Raleigh, where he was a founding member, and at CHRIST Baptist Church in Raleigh, where he served as an elder and worshipped until the time of his home going. He mentored countless young couples over the years, many of whom recalled to him in his final days on earth the influence he had on their lives.

A lifelong fan of NASCAR, he fulfilled his desire to drive a race car at the Richard Petty Driving Experience at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, reaching a top speed of 165 mph. An avid water skier, he took up downhill skiing at the age of 55, which he mastered with equal skill.

He lived a full and rich life. We loved him deeply and will miss him immensely until we are once again united in heaven!

Friends visited with the family from 5-6:30 P.M., Tuesday evening, May 15, 2018 at Christ Baptist Church followed by a funeral service at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday morning, May 16, 2018 at Duke Memorial Baptist Church, 3976 NC-581, Louisburg, NC 27549.

Mr. Bunn is survived by his wife Shelby Swanson Bunn; children, Vicky Loblein and husband Bob of Wake Forest and William David Bunn of Raleigh; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Philip Bunn of Raleigh and Jamie O'Briant of Roxboro; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Mr. Bunn was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Young.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or to Christ Baptist Church, 400 Newton Road, Raleigh, NC 27615 for missions programs.

A service of Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home, 1051 Durham Road, Wake Forest, NC. (919)556-7400, www.cswfuneralhome.com
