MATTHEW S. WHITLEY
June 9, 1977 - May 22, 2018

LOUISBURG - Matthew "Matt" Shane Whitley, 40, of the Justice Community, passed away Tuesday morning at his home surrounded by his loving family after a four-year fight with Pancreatic Cancer. As Matt's favorite saying would be "IT IS WHAT IT IS."

Matt was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Vaden Pearce, and his paternal grandfather, Joe Whitley.

Matt attended Duke Memorial Baptist Church. He worked as an Equipment Manager for Mid Atlantic Infrastructure for 18 years.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Duke Memorial Baptist Church. A private family burial will follow in the Boone Family Cemetery.

Matt is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Jamie B. Whitley; daughter, Taylor Madison Whitley; mother and father, Wanda and D.L. Whitley; brother, Jeff Whitley; maternal grandmother, Martha J. Pearce; paternal grandmother, Mattie P. Whitley, all of Zebulon; mother and father-in-law, Ardeth and Jimmy Boone; brother and sister-in-law, Brad and Kelly Boone, all of the Justice Community; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jamie Whitley for the Taylor Madison Whitley College Fund, 588 Edward Best Rd., Louisburg, NC 27549.
