ROBERT "BOB" GILBERT STANLEY

WHITEVILLE--Robert (Bob) Gilbert Stanley, 88, of Whiteville died Sunday, May 20, 2018.

Robert worked at Louisburg College from 1954-1970. He started his career at Louisburg College as Dean of Men and over his 16-year tenure held many roles there. He also served as baseball coach for three years. He would eventually move his family to Whiteville to accept a position at Southeastern Community College as Business Manager. He retired from Southeastern Community College 17 years later.

Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Ann; his parents, J.P. and Becky Stanley; sister, Louise Tidwell; brothers, Jason, Ralph, and Hubert.

Survivors include sons, Mark Stanley (Lisa) of Whiteville, Craig Stanley (Elizabeth) of Greenville, and Art Stanley (Martha Jo) of Wilson; grandsons, Zachary Stanley (Taylor), Fisher Stanley and Clay Stanley; granddaughters, Sarah Stanley, Katie Stanley, and Emily Stanley; great-grandson, Jensen Stanley.

A graveside service was held at 11am on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.

The family would like to thank neighbor and friend, Vickie Parker, for her kindness and generosity given to them over the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 412 N. Madison Street, Whiteville, NC 28472.
