E. RAEFORD HAYES
March 11, 1937 - July 16, 2018

LOUISBURG - Edward Raeford Hayes, 81, of Louisburg, died Monday evening.

Raeford was a son of the late George Ernest and Bessie Edwards Phelps Hayes. He was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine H. Brock; brothers, Philmore Hayes, Walton Hayes and Russell Hayes.

He was the co-owner of Hayes Brothers Muffler Shop. He was a dedicated, hard working husband, father and grandfather. He was a car and gun enthusiast.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Thursday in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 12:30 - 2 p.m. prior to the service.

Raeford is survived by his wife, Vickie W. Hayes; children, Patrick Hayes and wife, Jennifer of Garner; Wendy H. Bunn and husband, Frankie; William "Bill" Hayes, all of Louisburg; step-children, Michael Jackson and wife, Christina of Norlina; Kimberly Mustian and husband, Steve of Henderson; brothers, R.T. Hayes and wife, Lucille; George Hayes and wife, Pamela, all of Louisburg; grandchildren, Isaac, Jayden, Abby, Chloe, Ruby and Elizabeth.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
