Gladys was born on September 27, 1911 to Genadius and Nellie Grant Parrish Roberts in Franklinton. She graduated from Franklinton High School and completed a post graduate business course there.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Connis Ostin Brown, Sr., and her son, Connis Ostin Brown, Jr.

She is survived by her grandson, Connis Ostin Brown, III (wife Robbie) of Pompano Beach, Florida, and great-grandchildren Connis Ostin Brown, IV and Elizabeth Anne Brown; daughter-in-law, Anne T. Brown of Richmond, VA, plus nieces and nephews. Gladys was a member of the Franklinton United Methodist Church and was very knowledgeable of local history and genealogy.

The family wishes to thank the many people at the Louisburg Nursing Center who helped to care for her and were also her friends. Arrangements are being handled by Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest.
