GLEN HOWELL PERRY
May 17, 1937 - July 15, 2019

RALEIGH - Glen H. Perry died peacefully on July 15, 2019 at the age of 82. Glen was raised in New Hope by his mother, Artelia Floyd. Glen grew up appreciating the value of hard work and the importance of God, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Artelia Floyd; sisters, Vivian Duke, Dot Mullen, and Lois Whisnant; brother, Don Perry. His surviving family members include his wife, Patricia Strickland Perry; daughters, Sharon Hicks (Donny) of Raleigh and Allyson Tetterton (Duane) of Wake Forest; son, Keith Perry (Crystal) of Raleigh; and grandchildren, Joshua Marquez, Hayden Perry, and Madelyn Perry.

Glen was dedicated to providing for his family. Following graduation from Bunn High School, he began working at Carolina Power and Light Company, CP&L (now referred to as Duke Energy). He married Patricia in 1959 and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Glen faithfully served CP&L for 39 years and retired in 1994. Glen enjoyed having a job and people and combined these two loves by opening a booth at the Raleigh Flea Market where he sold antique furniture for over 30 years. His exemplary work ethic ensured that all 3 of his children would attend and graduate college without incurring school loan debt; an opportunity that he did not have as a young man. Sharon graduated from UNC at Chapel Hill as a pharmacist and was employed with Rite-Aid until her retirement. Allyson also graduated from UNC at Chapel Hill. She is a registered nurse and is employed by Rex Hospital as the Manager of Accreditation and Regulatory Support. Keith graduated from NC State University and is employed as a Premium Audit Field Manager with Builders Mutual Insurance Company.

New Hope Christian Church was an important part of Glen's life where he served as the Church's pianist. Glen was an active member of the church where he enjoyed attending Sunday School along with the Worship Service. Glen would serve when called upon and in the past served as Deacon and on the Board of Finance for the church.

The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. on Saturday at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory at 103 W. Franklin St., Louisburg, NC. Glen will be laid to rest on Sunday, July 21, 2019. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at New Hope Christian Church at 2779 NC Hwy 98 W., Louisburg, NC 27549. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to New Hope Christian Church. The family has chosen Flowers by Henry in Louisburg, NC to provide their arrangements (919) 496-5427.

Arrangements are by Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg, www.stricklandfuneralhome.net.
