PRESTIGIOUS HONOR. Franklinton High School sophomore standout Sara Kenny (top row, second from left) has earned a spot on the 2019 All-Big East Conference Girls Golf Team. (Photo Submitted)

WILSON -- The race for the Big East Conference Girls Golf Championship literally went down to the last shot Monday afternoon.

That's when the Big East golfers convened for the final time in the regular season, and Wilson Hunt appeared to be in good shape to take the team title heading into the 18-hole event.

The Lady Warriors held a 17-shot cushion in the overall standings, but Southern Nash made up that entire deficit to tie Hunt for the championship in the finale at Willow Springs Country Club.

Fike finished in third place, while Franklinton took the fourth spot for head coach Ryan Vick.

Both Hunt and SN closed with 753 strokes for the season.

In individual action, Southern Nash senior veteran Elisabeth Collie entered play with an eight-shot cushion for Player of the Year honors.

Collie increased her advantage even more with an impressive 81 to pull away for her second individual title in three years.

Collie easily had the best round of the day, with the next closest competitors offering rounds of 96.

The individual excellence from Collie also helped spur Southern's final-round run to even things up with Wilson Hunt.

But there were other strong contributors, including Taylor Hall with a 102 and Samantha Puckett, who tied for the second position at 96.

Cydney Richardson, Northern Nash's lone golfer, carded a 111 as part of the festivities.

At the conclusion of the round, the All-Big East Conference Girls Golf Team was released after final scores were tabulated.

Collie, of course, was the Player of the Year as she capped off an impressive regular season campaign.

Franklinton also received an all-league recipient as sophomore Sarah Kenny took seventh place overall for the season to earn Big East honors.

Kenny finished the regular season portion of her campaign by firing a 107 on Monday.

Other FHS scores for the day were Lily Puett (122), Isabelle Henry (119), Samantha Bishop (120) and Emma Holloman (128).

The All-Big East Team was as follows:

• Elisabeth Collie, Southern Nash
• Ashton Barnes, Wilson Hunt
• Connor Worley, Wilson Hunt
• Taylor Hall, Southern Nash
• Allison Boykin, Wilson Hunt
• Laney Jinks, Wilson Fike
• Sarah Kenny, Franklinton
• Samantha Puckett, Southern Nash
• Gracie Taylor, Wilson Hunt
• Morgan Harold, Wilson Fike
