HAZEL P. JEFFREYS (March 12, 1920 – July 23, 2007)
LOUISBURG – Hazel Alma Perry Jeffreys, 87, of Louisburg, died Monday morning at Louisburg Nursing Center.

Hazel was a loving wife and mother and sacrificed so much for her husband and children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Grover Johnson Jeffreys, and was a daughter of the late Redding Richford and Alma Wheless Perry. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Minda Montgomery and Virginia Wood; brothers, Robert Perry, Abner Perry, Kenneth Perry, Malcolm Perry and Arthur Lee Perry. She was a member of Rock Spring Baptist Church and the first female bus driver in Franklin County.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rock Spring Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Hazel is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Eula and Vernon May of Wake Forest, Hilda J. and Walter Simpkins of Raleigh, Alma Lee and Cortez Lewis of Louisburg, Sheila and Allen Driver of West Jefferson, Gale and Steve Hoyle of Rocky Ford; sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and LaVera Jeffreys of Wilmington, Edison and Doris Jeffreys of Louisburg, Vann and Beverly Jeffreys of Manson; sister, Gertrude P. McIntyre of Roswell, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Lucille Perry of Louisburg; sisters-in-law, Jeff Chamblee of Raleigh. Hilda Perry of Goldsboro, Ann Jeffreys of Louisburg. Anne Giles of Norfolk, VA; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren;

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Rock Spring Baptist Church, Building Fund, 34 Rock Spring Church Rd., Louisburg, NC 27549. The family received friends 7 – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Strickland Funeral Home, 103 W. Franklin St., Louisburg.
