G. ODELL HEDGEPETH
July 25, 1926 - December 19, 2019

KITTRELL - Gilbert Odell Hedgepeth, 93, of Kittrell, died the morning of December 19, 2019.

Odell was born in Vance County; he was the son of the late Joseph Alexander Hedgepeth and Ethel McKeithan Hedgepeth. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine "Jenny" Blackley Hedgepeth; brother, Macon D. Hedgepeth; and his daughter-in-law, Barbara Boyette Hedgepeth.

He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher for over 65 years. He was also a lay leader, Chairman of the board and a superintendent of the church. Odell was a member of the choir for many years. He loved his family, church and his church family.

Odell was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Master Sergeant in the South Pacific.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Franklinton.

He is survived by his son, Bundy Hedgepeth; sister-in-law, Ethel A. Hedgepeth; niece, Rachel H. Gordon (Charles), all of Kittrell; one granddaughter; several great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service. All other times, they will be at the home of Rachel and Charles Gordon, 1789 Rocky Ford Rd., Kittrell, NC.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, c/o Emily Bass, 145 Ashton Way, Franklkinton, NC 27525.
