Trump broke federal law

Dear editor:

President Trump has "outed" the whistleblower in a tweet sent to his 68 million followers on Twitter. In doing so, he has broken a federal law, "The Whistleblower Protection Act," which passed both House and Senate without objection in 1989 and was signed into law by President George H. W. Bush.

Not only did President Trump break this law, he broke it openly, publicly, and purely for personal gain. He has repeatedly and openly flaunted our laws and evidently thinks that our laws don't apply to him. In this case, he has put the life of the whistleblower at risk.

And why? Because he is peeved? Because he has no self-control? Because he is so angry? So threatened? So unstable? So mean? So vicious?

We should never have to use words like these to describe our President.

Republicans in the Senate had better wake up! Why do they continue to support him in lock-step when their consciences must tell them that he must be removed from office?

Surely the time has come for them to put country above party and vote to convict.
