CENTERVILLE -- A Louisburg woman died Friday night following a single-vehicle wreck.
According to a report by trooper J.M. Leonard, Jelisa Shantel Smith was driving east on Vaiden Road just before 7:30 p.m. on May 15 when she ran off the road to the left as she rounded a curve.
The Honda Accord she was driving then crashed into a utility pole and overturned.
Smith, 31, died as a result of her injuries.
According to the report, there were two passengers in the vehicle, a 26-year-old and a two-year-old.
The two-year-old was transported to WakeMed for treatment.
The cause of the crash was unknown, but investigators estimate Smith was traveling above the posted speed prior to the wreck.
