R. T. HAYES, SR.
October 24, 1932 - July 6, 2020

LOUISBURG - Robert Theodore "R.T." Hayes, Sr., 87, of Louisburg, died Monday morning at his home.

R.T. was a son of the late George Ernest and Bessie Edward Phelps Hayes. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Hayes; grandchildren, Reagan Hall and Hutch Hunt; sister, Maxine H. Brock; brothers, Philmore Hayes, Walton Hayes, Russell Hayes and Raeford Hayes.

He was a faithful member of Maple Springs Baptist Church. He owned and operated Shannon Village Exxon for 20 years. He was an avid sports fan and an obsessive grass mower.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

R.T. is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Lucille D. Hayes; daughter, Diane H. Carpenter; sons and daughters-in-law, Ted and Leann Hayes, Phil and Patricia Hayes; grandson, Ernie Hayes and his wife, Patricia; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, George "Shorty" Hayes and wife, Pamela; sister-in-law, Vickie W. Hayes, all of Louisburg; many nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Maple Springs Baptist Church, 1938 NC 56 Hwy E., Louisburg, NC 27549.
