LOUISBURG -- Franklin County has reported 25 deaths from COVID-19 and more than 730 cases of the novel coronavirus.
While the county has outbreaks and clusters reported at Franklin Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and ABC Adventures Preschool and Child Care, the two most recent deaths come from the general community.
According to the State Department of Health and Human Services, Franklin County has 107 cases per 10,000 residents.
With a population just under 70,000, Franklin County had 723 confirmed cases at press time. An outbreak, as defined by the state, is at least two cases within a congregate care facility.
Franklin Oaks has a total of seven cases, three staff members and four residents, but no deaths.
The state defines a cluster of COVID-19 cases as at least five within a certain entity and ABC Adventures reported six cases involving children. Again, no deaths were reported from that cluster of cases.
