WILLIAM LEON BASHAM

LOUISBURG--William Leon Basham, 79, of Louisburg, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday evening August 6, 2020. He was born in Raleigh County, WV, the son of the late Mary Gold Jones and William Michael Basham. He was a firm believer in having a personal relationship with Christ and was a veteran of the US Army and a retired building contractor.

He was a loving husband and father who became a father to many who were fatherless. He served in many capacities, both in and out of the church. As a successful business owner, he strove to be a godly example to all of his employees and customers alike.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kitty S. Basham; son, William "Bill" Basham, Jr., and wife Karen of Youngsville; daughter Stephanie Farley and husband, Johnny, of Louisburg; son Stephen Basham and companion, Toni Davis, of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Jennifer Murphy and husband Jason, of Sanford, Jonathan Basham of Washington state, Christopher Farley and wife, Patti, of Middlesex, and Taylor Farley of Louisburg; great-grandchildren, Elijah Russell, Isaiah Russell, Reuben Webster, Savannah Gregory, Wyatt, Caroline and Holden Murphy; sisters Ilene Barr of Beaver, WV, and Aretta Harvey of MacArthur, WV; brother, Ronald Basham and wife Sue of Wake Forest.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend its sincerest appreciation for Kindred Hospice of Oxford who were such a great support to us during this difficult time.

Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse, Operation Heal Our Patriots, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000 or to the Baptist Children's Home, 2557 Cedar Dell Lane, Kinston, NC 28504.

A service of Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center. (919-556-5811)
