J. VERNON BRAGG, JR.

FRANKLINTON--James Vernon Bragg, Jr., 72, of Franklinton, passed away Wednesday morning, August 12, 2020, at his home. He was born in Granville County to the late James Vernon Bragg, Sr. and Mabel Averette Bragg. Mr. Bragg was a lifelong member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Brassfield Fire Department. He retired as a Sergeant from the North Carolina Department of Corrections after 30 years of service and after retirement, he continued his passion for farming with B&H Farm. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and will be greatly missed.

Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday morning, August 15, 2020, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Bragg is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vivian Allgood Bragg; daughters, Deborah Smith (Jimmie) of Youngsville, Dorothy Herman(Jimmy Plymel) of Franklinton and Rose Hockaday(Greg) of Franklinton; grandson, Dylan Hockaday of Franklinton; sisters, Betty Harmon of Charlotte and Linda Gordon of Atlanta; brother, Tyson Bragg(Sheila) of Kittrell; special friend, Curley Gibbs (Debbie) of Franklinton; several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carole Garner; brothers, Gerald Bragg and B.G. Bragg.
