JIMMIE" JAMES A. WEATHERS, SR.
April 26, 1935 - August 17, 2020

LOUISBURG - James Ashley Weathers, Sr., 85, of Louisburg, died Monday morning at his home.

Jimmie was a son of the late Sam and Mary P. Weathers. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Joyce Knott Weathers; son James "Jay" A. Weathers, Jr.; sisters, Mary Frances W. Austin and Dorothy W. Austin; brother, Robert Weathers.

A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery.

Jimmie is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Jennifer and Ford Perry of Louisburg; Julie Weathers and her life partner, Lori Tyman of Youngsville; daughter-in-law, Cathleen C. Weathers of Wake Forest; brother and sister-in-law, Willis and Jean Weathers of Concord; sister-in-law, Jo Weathers of Raleigh; grandchildren, Brooke Smith and husband, Donny; Jacob Weathers; Jamie Fordin and husband, Charles; Ryan Weathers and Nathan Weathers; great-grandchildren, Sadie Smith and Isabella Fordin, and another great-grandchild on the way; caregivers, Josephine Alston, Barbara Alston, Earlene Medlin, Emley Mitchell and James Brown.

Jimmie was a devoted husband and father, as well as active citizen of his community. He began his professional career with First Citizens Bank & Trust as a bookkeeper and retired as a Senior Vice President with 40 years of service. He also faithfully served as a member and deacon of Louisburg Baptist Church. He was elected as Franklin County Commissioner in 1978 until 1986, and served as President of NC Association of County Commissioners from 1984-1985. In addition he was a member of the Masons for 62 years and became a Master Mason. He was also founding President of the Louisburg Chamber of Commerce.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Louisburg Baptist Church, Neighbors Fund, P.O. Box 730, Louisburg, NC 27549.
