LINDA KAYE MULLEN

ZEBULON--Linda Kaye Mullen died quietly and peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Zebulon Rehabilitation Center. Kaye will be remembered in her youth for her joy of nature and love of family, and later in life, for her resolute ability to bear pain and suffering.

On October 6, 1946, Kaye (the identical twin sister of Faye), was born into the Pine Ridge, NC, family of O'Deyne and Estelle Mullen. During Kaye's youth and early adult years, she worked on the family farm, cooked fabulous country meals and was a wonderful companion for the many generations of family who lived nearby - grandparents, sisters, cousins and nieces. She also enjoyed the friendship of her friends from Bunn High School and church family at Poplar Spring Baptist Church. Kaye's second home after the decline of her health was at Zebulon Rehabilitation Center. The family would like to express our grat-itude to the staff for their kindness and commitment to Kaye's well-being.

Kaye was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clyde and Bertha Mullen of Pine Ridge and Joe and Lola Joyner of Louisburg, NC; her parents, O'Deyne and Estelle Mullen and stepmother, Bettie Mullen of Pine Ridge. She is survived by her sisters: Faye Strickland (Glen) of Pine Ridge, Cynthia Jolly (John) of Wake Forest, NC, Tammy Heuts of Pine Ridge, Amy Brewer of Zebulon, NC and Kathy Mullins (Bill) of Louisburg; by nieces and nephews: Jeremy Atlas (Todd) of Durham, NC and their children: Evan and Ethan, Brooke Heuts (Braedyn) of Durham, Anna and Harrison Heuts of Pine Ridge, Jay Jolly (Renee) of Wake Forest, and their children: Carson and Reid, Chris Jolly (Kathy) of Wake Forest, and son, Smith and many loving aunts, cousins and friends.

Due to Covid-19, the family will gather for a private celebration of Kaye's life at the graveside in Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church at 89 Brantley Town Road, Zebulon, NC 27597 or the Louisburg Senior Center at 127 Shannon Village, Louisburg, NC 27549.

L. Harold Poole Funeral Home in Knightdale is providing support for the Mullen family.

Condolences to the family may be sent to poolefuneral.com under Tributes.
