DR. JASPER BURT PERDUE, JR., MD FACS "J.B."

LOUISBURG--Dr. Jasper Burt "J.B." Perdue, Jr., age 82, of Louisburg, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at his home after a brief period of declining health.

J.B. was born on December 25, 1937 to the late Burt and Eileen Dennis Perdue in Franklin County, NC. In addition to his parents, J.B. was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ball Perdue, and his daughter-in-law, Velvet Newman Perdue.

J.B. graduated from Edward Best High School, Louisburg College, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston Salem, NC. In 1968, following his internship and residency at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, J.B. served in the 312th EVAC Hospital Reserve Unit and was deployed to Vietnam for fourteen months. In 1970, Dr. Perdue and his family returned to Louisburg where he opened his General Surgery Practice on Jolly Street. He practiced medicine at Franklin Memorial Hospital and later at Franklin Regional Medical Center until he retired in 1997. He also served as the Franklin County Medical Examiner from 1971 to 2008. Dr. Perdue loved Louisburg and Franklin County and he worked tirelessly to protect the health and well-being of its citizens. His dedication to his profession earned him the respect of his patients and their families, colleagues, and friends.

J.B. was an avid Tar Heel fan. He loved watching Carolina Basketball and enjoyed printing out the box score following each game so that he could analyze the stats for the team and each individual player.

J.B. is survived by his two children, Chris Perdue of Louisburg and Cathy Hales and her husband, Ron, of Wake Forest; one grandson, Adam Hales, of Wake Forest; two brothers, Jim Perdue (Ann) of Dawsonville, GA., Wayne Perdue (Judy) of Linwood, NC.; and a sister, Judy Morris of Tucson, AZ.

A private graveside funeral service will be held at Lancaster Memorial Park located at 2210 NC Hwy 561, Louisburg NC with Dr. Mike Safley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Franklin County Animal Shelter, 113 Market Street. Louisburg, NC 27549 or to the charity of your choice.
