They made their home in the White Level Community and were married for 55 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an active and devoted member of White Level Baptist Church, where she was very involved in the Women on Missions group.

Dawn was preceded in death by her husband, L.H. "Pete" Dickens, II; infant daughter, and sister, Josephine Harris.

She is survived by her sons, Herman Dickens, III (Victoria), Mark Dickens (Amy); loving devoted friend, Roger Raye; sister, Bettie Burt Rorie of Wilmington; grandchildren, J.M. Dickens (Holly), Holly Boyd (Brian), Anna Fleming (Butch), Jonathan Dickens (Bailey), and Ashton Krueger; great-grandchildren, Charley Grace Dickens, Brayden Boyd, John Luke Dickens, Olivia Boyd, and soon to be Elizabeth Fleming.

The family will have a private entombment service at White Level Baptist Church Cemetery.
