WESLEY EARL SMITH

KITTRELL, NC-Wesley Earl Smith, 68, of Kittrell, passed away on March 13, 2021. He was born on March 24, 1952 to the late Benjamin Earl and Grace Edwards Smith.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Shelia Kearney Smith; his children, Wesley Smith, II "Buddy" (Shelia), Stacy Smith Tart (Tim), Dwayne Smith; grandchildren, Kaylee, Ben, Lacy, Daniel, Christian, and Peyton; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Jason, and Bryce; his sister, Elaine Couch, and extended family, Valerie, Braylen, Cheyanne, and Zach.

Wesley loved his children, grandchildren, and his church family at Perry's Chapel Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing with his grandkids and riding them around on the ATV. Wesley grew up and has always worked on the family farm. When he was younger, he trained horses. Wesley worked in photography, owning Wesley Smith Photography Studio, then working at Smith Studios, and Olan Mills. He founded and ran the Viking Den for teenagers in Creedmoor. Wesley went back to school to earn a degree in heating and air at VGCC where he made the Dean's List every semester. He then worked many years with Owen Gupton Roofing, as well as working at VGCC where he was the heating and air department head as well as an instructor. Wesley also ran Southern Championship Wrestling. Wesley believed in giving back and started a scholarship at VGCC and gave to many charities.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 3:00pm at Perry's Chapel Baptist Church, 894 Perry's Chapel Church Road, Franklinton, NC 27525 with Reverend Carl Hunter officiating.
