Paid Obituary

Elaine Stallings lived a humble life of selfless service.

During her employment years she served thousands of happy customers. People could count on seeing her smiling face behind the counter at Murphy's Supermarket, and her special touch with the rolling pin brightened many mornings at the Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen through the years. Students and teachers who passed through the Edward Best School Cafeteria loved her sweet demeanor as well as the best cafeteria food in the county. Then finally, in retirement her fresh vegetable stand was such a treat for her neighborhood and several surrounding communities. Regardless of where she was, or what she was doing, she made everything special because she had an inner joy she shared with everyone she met.

She also served her family faithfully. Her husband of 55 years, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were beyond blessed to be able to call Elaine Stallings my wife, my mom, or my granny. She never wavered in her dedication to put their needs, and wishes too if she could, before her own.

But more than anyone or anything, Elaine served the Lord. Perhaps this was what allowed her to serve others with such grace. She followed Him without question or hesitation and her legacy is evident:

"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind."

-Matthew 22:37
