TONY L. KING
June 30, 1964 - June 15, 2021

LOUISBURG -- Tony Luther King, 56, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening surrounded by his family. Tony was preceded in death by his father, William G. King. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 11:00 AM with funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville.

Tony is survived by his loving wife, Sharon C. King; children Madison Lynn Davis and Holden Wyatt Davis; his mother Lois Foster King; sister Angela McCracken and husband David; nephew Michael McCracken and wife Katherine; niece Elizabeth M. Medlin and husband Addison; and great-niece Tenley Lynch.

Tony's love and faith in God was undeniable. It was evident in the way he lived his daily life and witnessed to others. Tony's first love was his Lord and Savior and next came his love for his family and friends. He was known for his infectious laugh, embellished story-telling, and fun-loving, "life of the party" spirit. He always made sure his family experienced life through family vacations from Myrtle Beach, Disney World, Washington D.C., Las Vegas, the Holy Land, and many more destinations. Tony always described himself as "just a Franklin County boy who's gone all over the world" and that is exactly who he was.

Tony "wore many hats" over the course of his life. He was so proud to be a founding officer of the Delta Chi fraternity at Appalachian State University, and he made a point every year at homecoming to go and visit the fraternity tent to welcome new members into the brotherhood.

He was one of the first two graduates of the ASU Master of Public Administration graduate program. He began his career as the first Assistant City Manager for the Town of Boone in NC.

After a number of years, he decided to return home and became the Assistant Town Manager of Louisburg, NC until he "officially" retired in October of 2020. He served as a member of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce for many years and helped create and facilitate the Louisburg Historic District Commission. One of his highest professional honors was when he was awarded the North Carolina City Manager of the year award in 2008.

Tony will be missed tremendously and remain in our hearts forever.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church at 249 Holden Rd, Youngsville, NC 27596.

Arrangements are by Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg,
